Extending the FREE BOOK OFFER (May 2nd-6th)

Extending the FREE BOOK OFFER (May 2nd-6th)

I’ve seen so much success from this free eBook promotion that I’ve decided to extend it for two more days! The Jestivan is FREE until 11:59 P.M. PST, May 6th. Lost in all of this madness is the reason for me doing this: I completed the first draft of Erafeen #2 about a week ago, so this is my celebration gift to all of you.

Last day, ladies and gents

Last day, ladies and gents

Quickly posting this before I sprint drive entirely too fast to work.

This is the LAST DAY to get The Jestivan eBook for FREEEEEEE. Click HERE if you want to grab it before it costs money again.

Also, the book cover will change in the coming two weeks. So if you want to make sure you have an original first edition paperback, you might want to purchase it within the next 7-14 days. You’ll never be able to get this cover again, and you’ll be able to say you have an original.

WHICH REMINDS ME.

I’m super excited for the new book cover’s reveal. It’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

We’re also getting close to the start of the Goodreads giveaway for the paperback. Be on the lookout for that.

Bye!

Climbing the Amazon charts!

Climbing the Amazon charts!

Good news. No more than a day into the promotion, and The Jestivan has found itself at #17 on the “Best Sellers for Epic Fantasy (Free)” list.

Thank you to anybody who has contributed or is thinking about it. The best news is that there are still 2 days remaining in the promotion, so make sure you take advantage of the OFFER.

Once again, thank you.

The Jestivan will be free for 3 days!

Did you read the news? The first draft of Erafeen #2 is finished, so how should we celebrate? Pfft. Forget giveaways. Forget discounts. The ebook for The Jestivan (Erafeen, #1) will be FREE for 3 days on Amazon from May 2nd-4th!!!!

Even Michael Scott realizes the scale of such an announcement. 93,000 words, 10 kingdoms, dozens of characters, magic, and intricate plot-lines all for the cost of … NOTHING. And it’s all to prepare to you for Erafeen #2. So I advise that you CLICK HERE to get to reading! You want to make sure you beat Michael Scott there.

Self-Revision

Self-Revision

Oh how I hate this part of the process. Monotonous and boring; self-revision is the equivalent of being a permanent cashier mentor—if such a cruel position even exists. And if it does, my thoughts are with those poor bastards.¬†You’re low on cash; call for a Code 40. Yes, I know you still have two singles left, but what happens when a customer gives you a five and needs four dollars in change? Oh. 8 quarters, you say? … no. Rinse and repeat.

In fact, I’ve plunged so deep into the fiery pits of self-revision hell, that I’ve grabbed onto my blog as the only source of momentary escape. Sure, I could hop on Xbox or surf Twitter, but then that wouldn’t feel productive. With this option, I at least feel like I’m providing content. Whether this content is meaningful or meaningless is up for you to decide.

I suppose what’s forcing me to continue revising/editing is the utter lack of television entertainment. As my girlfriend is with food—she has yet to ever eat a sandwich in her life—I’m extremely picky with the shows I choose to watch. Unless it’s a comedy, I’m highly critical of plot-lines and the way they’re delivered. Here are some shows I currently watch or have watched in completion (excluding comedies):

  • Shameless
  • Game of Thrones
  • Black Sails
  • Breaking Bad
  • Teen Wolf (which has been disappointing as of late)
  • Hannibal
  • Orphan Black
  • 13 Reasons Why
  • Westworld
  • Stranger Things

Here are shows that I’ve given a try, but they eventually ended up too stale or aggravating:

  • The Vampire Diaries (Gave up a few episodes into Season 5)
  • The 100 (Watched 9 episodes of the first season)
  • The Leftovers (10 minutes into episode 2, and I was done)
  • Arrow (I was finished after the first 2 episodes of the 2nd season)
  • American Horror Story (Somehow, I didn’t finish the first season, but I’m willing to go back)

If you see a trend in the shows I’ve finished or keep up with, then feel free to offer suggestions that are similar. I’m looking for any excuse to run away from these revisions, and a 6-season long marathon could do exactly that.

Until next time, PEACE.

THE FIRST DRAFT IS FINISHED

THE FIRST DRAFT IS FINISHED

YO GUYS AND GIRLS! 2 POSTS IN ONE MONTH … SAY WHAAAAAT?

Only the grandest of announcements could make such a thing happen, and I’m sure you can tell by the title what exactly it is: After a staggering ~177,000 words, Erafeen #2‘s first draft has come to a close! I’m pumped. You pumped?

So here we are. It’s the end of April, and I just spent the entirety of my vacation at home writing the last chapters of Erafeen #2. I’ve already contacted my editor to share the great news—but mostly to serve as a warning. After all, this is a hefty project he’ll have to tackle. Of course; before I send my book to a trained ninja to be slashed and gutted, I¬†must hack away at it first. My swings may not be as clean, but¬†I’m hoping my retired 2nd-degree black belt will be of use.

I’m also on the hunt for a cover/jacket artist, but I’m keeping that on the hush-hush. I don’t know when I’ll reveal the book title. Expect that soon though. For now, it’s Erafeen #2.

P.S. Celebratory Goodreads Giveaway of The Jestivan (Erafeen #1) incoming! 5 winners, thousands of losers. Fun stuff.

I’M SO HAPPY.

It’s so close; I can taste it.

It’s so close; I can taste it.

The second book in the epic fantasy series, Erafeen, is almost finished.

How’s that for an opening line? And April 1st was five days ago, so I’m not fooling you.

The end is quickly approaching for the writing phase of Erafeen #2. With a few more chapters to go, excitement is swelling within me like it’s 2015 all over again—the year I finished the first installment, The Jestivan, and experienced the thrill ride that was editing, revision, design, more editing and revision, marketing, etc.

With that said, I wanted to share a little something. It’s not much of anything really. Some of you might find it interesting. I’ve been driving myself crazy over exactly what the book cover will look like, and there are a few ideas I have in mind. I’ll show¬†you one of them. And remember, this isn’t supposed to be a work of art by Da Vinci, Picasso, or Salvador Dali … this is a very rough sketch.

It’s time for speculation. For those of you who have read The Jestivan, do you think you know who this is? Do you think it’s someone you’ve already met, or is it a new character introduced in Book #2? Or does it represent two different people?

Guess away!

I can’t wait to share the 2nd journey with the world. The Jestivan, of course, will end up in more life-threatening situations as they find out more about themselves and the world around them ……………. But that’s all I’ll say.

Look out for Erafeen #2 (not announcing the title yet) at the end of 2017.

Happy Belated Holidays! UPDATESSSSS

Happy Belated Holidays! UPDATESSSSS

It’s January 13th of 2017!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Yea, I know. I’m extremely late. My mission to blog as much and as passionately as I write my book has been catastrophically unsuccessful to say the least. Luckily, with a new year comes the promise of a¬†New Year’s resolution, and the upkeep of this blog will be exactly that! So that means I will fail within the month definitely make it happen!

In other news; in a world filled with useless apps, Timehop is one of the few that aren’t useless and manage to tickle my fancy every afternoon when I wake up, sluggishly swipe off my alarm, and misclick every possible spot of my phone’s screen before finally opening the app through sheer luck. Because, you know, grabbing my phone is more important than the glasses that sit right next to it. And to the handful of you still stuck on the part when I said “afternoon”: Yes, I’m nocturnal. I feast on mice during witching hours and sport wings and big, gigantic¬†eyes.

“But why would you need glasses if you have big eyes?” You got me. I’m not an owl. Props for paying attention.

See, this is what happens when I don’t blog for months. I forget how to do it. Now I’m rambling, hopping from nonsense to more nonsense¬† ¬†¬†HOPPING … HOP … TIMEHOP.

Yes, Timehop. I was scrolling through Timehop when this caught my eye:

And I don’t mean the cringe-worthy typo, “gentleman” ¬† ¬†even though that did stick out first. I’m talking about the the word-count. On this day, one year ago, I hit 5,000 words in Erafeen #2. Today, I’m at 124,500 words. Now this naturally made me want to do some math, so allow me to dazzle you with my number-crunching abilities.

1 year = 12 months = 120,000 words
10,000 words per month
2,500 words per week

Ok, so if this was an actual math assignment, I would have gotten a big ZERO for not showing my work. Just believe me; it was elementary math. I’m a genius.

It isn’t a mind-blowing pace. It’s not going to knock someone’s socks offmaybe one of them. But it is consistent, and when dealing with epic fantasy, it’s respectable. There are a LOT of moving pieces that I must keep track of and make sure are fully fleshed out before choosing to fly into another chapter … or even just the next paragraph. This is a big world with dozens of role players. Epic fantasy takes delicacy when being constructed, for the tiniest of plot-holes can cause a story to crumble.

With that said, I’m proud of my efforts, but I’m yearning for more production in 2017. I’m nearing Erafeen #2’s climax and conclusion, which means this year will be dedicated to layers of revisions by my editor and me; promotional and creative designs for the book jacket, book trailer, and countless other marketing avenues; and the review process where I send ARCs to a unlucky lucky select few. And it all builds up to the release in late Fall.

As for Erafeen #1 (The Jestivan), there will be another giveaway starting in a few days on Goodreads. Five winners, yadi yadi yadi. You know the drill. For the Erafeen noobs, I’ll give you a link. Forgive my gamer speak.

 Good day.
